This was the headline in a recent edition of Computing Weekly and confirms the feedback we have been receiving at Taitec. There has never been a better time to train for a career in IT.
Haroon Younas, the Training Director says, "I have never received so many enquiries from prospective employers looking to fill vacancies," he explained. Candidates with relevant experience and certifications are really in demand in numerous areas of the industry from technical support to database administration to web development.
The message is therefore if you are thinking of re-training to start a career in the IT industry the now is a great time to do it.

Taitec Training received a 100% assessment following a recent review of the centre's operations to verify that Pearson VUE test administration policies and procedures were being followed. Pearson VUE were so impressed by the assessment that they are to mention the report in their global newsletter and e-mailed to say, “Congratulations on such an excellent report!”
Taitec Training is accredited by Pearson VUE and Prometric to deliver computer based IT exams on behalf of all the major players in the IT industry such as Microsoft, Cisco and CompTIA. To achieve this the centres have comply with strict procedures to ensure that all exams are delivered correctly to maintain their integrity. A method of ‘quality control’ is to use ‘mystery shoppers’ posing as exam candidates who then file a report marking the centres adherence to the various policies and procedures.
Haroon says, “We were delighted to receive such a glowing report as we go to a lot of effort to ensure that all test candidates are as relaxed as possible in what is usually a very stressful situation for them whilst at the same time making sure all the procedures, such as checking identity, are followed correctly.”

The CompTIA A+ certification changed in 2006 and recognises the job requirements for the new IT Technician roles. It covers the technology and job-specific knowledge, as well as the communications skills necessary to provide excellent customer service.
There will still be two exams to pass but CompTIA A+ takes a new approach to validating the skills for entry-level IT Technicians by covering basic technical skills on one exam and the job role-specific application of those skills on the other.
Getting CompTIA A+ certified will provides an entry point into an IT career, covering the latest technology and skills required for entry-level IT Technicians and adding security and soft skills. Security skills are an important tool for any entry-level computer support professional, and soft skills are a top skill set sought out by employers.
Example job roles for CompTIA A+ include: IT Technician, Enterprise Technician, PC Technician, Desktop Support Technician, Field Technician, PC Support Specialist, Remote Support Technician, Help Desk Technician, Call Centre Technician, Depot Technician, and Bench Technician.
As before in addition to affording you those job opportunities, CompTIA A+ serves as a stepping stone to specializations or higher level certifications, such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft MCSA and MCSE.

Following the closure by Zurich Insurance of their Newcastle office, a number of former employees have enrolled with Taitec Training on the ECDL certification programme. The range of course content was appealing as although they were using computers at work it was on software specific to their job roles.
Looking for new jobs in the area it was soon obvious that a solid and broad understanding of Microsoft Office was required and the ECDL fitted the bill as it includes modules on Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
The fact that the course is delivered online was important as not everyone was in a position to start at the same time and there was a need for flexibility in working through the modules. “Everything is going very well,” said Haroon Younas, “we have already had people complete all six modules and achieve the ECDL certification.
